Coding Cords vs Notion
Notion is where a team writes its docs, wiki and projects, and its AI sits on the Business plan. Coding Cords does that work too, and adds mail, CRM, calendar time, e-signing, invoices and Cord, the AI, on one bill.

Choose Coding Cords if
You want documents, projects and files next to your mail, clients, hours and invoices, with AI included for every person and one bill.
Stay with Notion if
Your team lives in Notion databases with custom properties and several views, you share pages publicly with a link, or you need offline pages★ or single sign-on★ today.
Use both if

We run Coding Cords on Coding Cords: our own mail, projects, sales and invoices live in it.
Side by side
What each does, in the same rows
Notion's side comes from its own pricing and help pages, read on the day shown. A row that says a feature is not on Notion's pricing page means exactly that, not that Notion can't be set up to do something similar. Where a part of ours isn't built yet, it carries a star.

What else it does
The parts a docs tool isn't for
These are the jobs a company does around its documents, and how each works here.
The calendar is the timesheet
Drag a task onto your week, or press Start, and the hours are recorded. Start books the next 90 minutes and stops before your next meeting; fifteen minutes before the end you get a nudge with Add 30 min. Time already worked is never lost, even when a task moves to someone else.
Hours become an invoice
Team › Time shows which clients have hours not yet billed. Pick the period, split the lines by project or by person, check the hours times the rate, and a draft invoice opens in Finance. Billed time is locked to its invoice, so an hour is never billed twice.
A timeline for each project
One row per person shows who is stacked and who is free. Drop a task on top of another and the later ones slide along. A due date you typed in, such as a client's, never moves with the bar; it turns red when the plan runs past it.
Documents that are real pages
Write on A4 or Letter with a letterhead, then download a .docx that opens in Word like any other. Open a client's .docx here and it saves back as .docx. Cord proposes changes as tracked changes you accept or reject one by one.
Spreadsheets and PDFs
Open an .xlsx, change a formula, and it stays an .xlsx. Open a contract PDF, highlight a clause, add a note, fill the form and place a signature picture with the paper taken out. Both live in the project folder beside the work.
Mail, CRM and calls in one place
Mail on your own domain, a CRM that knows the thread, a deal that turns into a proposal, a signature, a project and an invoice, and phone numbers for calling. Winning a deal makes the person and the company customers on its own.
A portal for your clients
Clients sign in with an emailed link or a passkey and see only what you chose for their project: progress, files, messages, proposals and invoices. Clients get the portal, not a login to your workspace.
E-signing and the Vault
Send a document for signature from its own bar; signers confirm with a code and sign on their phone. Passwords, API keys and cards go in a Vault that is encrypted in your browser, shared by collection, with its activity listed.
Why people switch
What the day looks like with separate tools
Three moments most teams who keep their work in Notion and the rest elsewhere will recognise.
The hours that never reach the invoice
The work is in one tool, the hours in a spreadsheet and the invoice in a third. In Coding Cords the calendar records the hours, and Team › Time turns them into a draft invoice.
The brief, the thread and the contract
A client's brief sits on a page, the thread about it in mail and the signed contract in a drive. Here they share a project, and one search box looks across all three, limited to what each person can open.
AI for some of the team
The AI that reads your pages sits on the plan above, so half the team doesn't have it. Every Coding Cords seat includes a monthly AI allowance, and an admin can see who used how much.
The whole cost
What it costs, in money and in time
Notion bills each member a month; so does Coding Cords. The difference is what the bill covers. Here are both for 5 and 12 people, then the time it takes to run each.

Notion alone costs less per person. Coding Cords Starter covers documents, files, projects, calendar, time, mail, chat, phone numbers and the Vault. Company adds the CRM and Outreach. Cord is included: from $5 a month of AI for each person on Starter. Notion's yearly prices aren't shown on its page, only "save up to 20%".
Running it
- Adding a person
- NotionSettings, Members, Add members: enter an email and pick a role. An invite link, or an allowed email domain, lets people join without an invite.Their guide, checked 14 Oct 2026 · source
- Coding CordsOne form in Settings › Access: their email and a role. The seat goes on the bill at the same moment. Their mailbox can be made in the same step.
- Removing a person

- Coding CordsRemove them once. They are signed out everywhere on their next request and the seat comes off the bill.
- Choosing what someone can open

AI
Cord, and your own AI tools
Notion's AI works inside Notion's pages. Cord works across the company's mail, files, projects, CRM and invoices, and your own AI tools can reach the same work.
Notion AI
- Free and Plus get a limited trial of Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search.
- Business, at $20 a person a month billed monthly, is where those three come as features.
- Custom Agents are priced at $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits, and premium models also use credits that an owner or admin turns on first.
Cord
- Included for every person on every plan, as a monthly allowance. More is available from $8 a person a month.
- Plugged into the page you are on: press ⌘J on a document, a deal list or an invoice list and Cord already knows the page and your selection.
- It acts, with a button that says what will happen. Sending, paying and deleting always wait for your hand, and small changes you plainly asked for come with Undo.
- It sees only what you can open. The Vault, other people's pay and bank details never reach a model.
- Cord proposes edits to a document as tracked changes, each with Accept and Reject.
- Cord can read a spreadsheet you attach. Editing spreadsheet cells is on the way.★
Your own AI tools, in the same workspace
Any AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity, can work in Coding Cords. You make a personal key and paste one line, and the tool gets the same tasks, files, documents, CRM, invoices, time and calendar tools you have, with your permissions and the audit trail. Anything it does is labelled with the tool's name in the log. Revoke the key and it stops at once.
Fair to say
When Notion fits better
Notion is the better choice for some teams, and we'd rather say so here.
- Your wiki is built on databases with custom properties and several views. Our tasks have four fixed stages and no custom fields, and our spreadsheets have no sort, filter or charts.
- You share pages with anyone who has the link, or publish them to the web. Our documents go to colleagues and to clients through the portal.
- You need to work offline★. Notion's pricing page lists offline pages. Coding Cords runs in the browser, on phones too, but has no phone apps★ yet.
- You need single sign-on★ or SCIM★, or custom roles★. Notion lists SAML SSO and SCIM; we don't have them yet, and we hold no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate of our own.
- You only need docs and a wiki. Notion costs less per person for that, and you won't use the rest of what Coding Cords does.
Moving over
How the move works
You can move one project at a time and keep Notion running until you're ready.
Export from Notion
Notion's pricing page lists exporting a whole workspace as HTML, Markdown and CSV. Take your pages out as Markdown, and the databases you want as CSV.
Bring pages over
Markdown and text files can be made into documents in Files with one click (Convert to Word). Word files you already have open as they are. Notion's own features, such as linked databases, won't carry across, so plan to move the content and rebuild the structure.
Bring your tasks and contacts
Contacts import from a CSV or vCard file, with duplicates merged. There is no task import yet, so start live projects fresh, or ask Cord to create tasks from a list you paste.
Run both for a while
Nothing forces a cutover. Move one project, keep the wiki in Notion until the team is ready, and cancel when it is quiet.
Leave whenever you want
Documents export as PDF or DOCX, mail as mbox, and contacts, invoices and form responses as CSV. If a plan ends, the company turns read-only, so people can still read and export, and the data is kept for 30 days.

Questions
Questions people ask
Is Notion cheaper?
For docs and a wiki alone, yes. Notion Plus is $10 a person a month billed monthly and Business is $20 (checked 14 October 2026). Coding Cords costs more per person because it also covers mail, CRM, invoices, phone numbers, signing and AI. If docs are all you need, Notion is the cheaper tool.
Which Notion plan has AI?
On Notion's pricing page, Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search are Business features, which is $20 a person a month. Free and Plus get a limited trial. Notion's help page says premium models also use Notion credits, which an owner or admin turns on. Custom Agents are priced at $10 per 1,000 monthly credits.
What does Cord cost?
Every person gets a monthly AI allowance with their plan, and more is available from $8 a person a month. Unused AI doesn't carry over to the next month. An admin can see spending by person and switch features off.
Can my AI tools work in Coding Cords?
Yes, through MCP. Any AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity, can connect with a personal key and work with your tasks, files, CRM, invoices and more, with your own permissions. Revoking the key stops it at once. The Vault and secrets are left out on purpose.
Can Coding Cords replace our Notion wiki?
For documents, folders, search and comments, yes. Notion's databases with custom properties and several views are deeper than our task lists, and we have no custom fields. If your wiki is built on databases, check that part first.
Can we share a page with anyone who has the link?
Not yet. A document can be sent to colleagues or linked inside the workspace, and clients see files through a folder shared in the client portal. Notion lets you share a page with anyone who has the link, and publish pages to the web.
Does it work offline?
Not yet. Offline work is on our roadmap. Notion's pricing page lists offline pages on its plans.
Can the whole team try it first?
Yes. The trial is 14 days of the Company plan for up to 10 people, with no card. Phone numbers and Outreach are off during the trial.
Try it on your own work
Bring one project and its documents, and see the hours, mail and invoices next to them.
