Add and assign tasks
Add tasks to a project's backlog, type their details as you go, and set assignee, due date, priority, group and tags.
Updated
Tasks live in a project's Backlog. Each task has one assignee, and moves from Backlog to To do to Done.
Add a task
- Open the project. The Backlog tab opens first.
- In the Add a task line at the foot of a group, type a title and press Enter.
- Keep typing to add more; the line stays ready.
You can also choose New in the sidebar, then Task, from anywhere.
Type the details into the title
The add line reads details as you type and shows them as chips before saving:
- a date or time, such as tomorrow or friday 3pm, sets the due date
- #sales adds the tag Sales
- @sara assigns it to Sara
- !high sets the priority (Urgent, High, Normal or Low)
Anything it doesn't understand stays in the title, so nothing you type is lost.
Change a task
Click a task to open it in a sheet. There you set its Status, Assignee, Due date, Priority, Tags and Group, write a description, add comments and attach files. The description saves as you type.
Right-click a task row for quick changes: Mark done, Move to To-do, Priority and Delete.
Groups and tags
A Group sorts tasks by area, such as Frontend or Backend; each task has one. Tags mark themes, such as Auth; a task can have several. Make either by typing a new name.
Assigning is not scheduling
Assigning a task doesn't put it on anyone's list. Moving it to To do does: it then shows in its assignee's My tasks. See /help/projects-and-tasks/plan-your-day-in-my-tasks.
