Updated
Chat holds your company's conversations: channels for a team or a topic, and direct messages to one person or a few.
Message one person or a few
- In Chat, choose New and then New message.
- Find the people you want to write to.
- Write your message and press Enter. Shift + Enter starts a new line.
Writing to the same people again opens the same conversation.
Make a channel
- Choose New and then New channel.
- Give it a Name, and say What it's for if it helps.
- Turn on Private if only the people you add should see it.
- Add the People who belong in it.
A public channel can be found and joined by anyone in the company. A channel can carry an emoji in place of the #, chosen when you make it or later under Details.
Join a channel
Choose New and then Browse channels to see every public channel and join one.
Find your way around
Choose Jump to to go straight to a conversation or a person. Alt with the up and down arrows moves between unread conversations, and Mark all as read clears them all.
