The whole cost

What it costs, in money and in time

Money is one part of the cost. The other is the time it takes to run each tool. Here are both, for a team of 5 and a team of 12.

AI

The AI that comes with each

ClickUp sells AI as an add-on to its plans. Cord comes with the plan and works across the whole company.

ClickUp

  • ClickUp's AI is an add-on. Its pricing page shows Brain AI at $9 and Everything AI at $28, each a person a month, with no billing term beside them.
  • ClickUp's help centre says the Brain add-ons are bought for each Workspace member.
  • More AI credits cost $10 for 10,000, on top.

Cord, in Coding Cords

  • Cord is in every plan. Each person has a monthly AI allowance; more starts at $8 a person a month. Unused AI doesn't carry over.
  • Cord acts as you, with your access. It has about 170 actions across tasks, files, CRM, invoices, expenses, time, mail, chat, meetings, forms and signing. Anything that sends, pays or deletes waits until you hold the button.
  • Admins see AI spending by day, feature, person and model, and can cap or switch off each place AI works.

Your own AI tools can work in it too

Your own AI tools can work in the workspace too. Coding Cords has an MCP server, so any AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity, can create tasks, plan the calendar, draft invoices and search deals as you. Each person makes a personal key, the same permissions apply and every action lands in the audit log. Revoking a key takes effect at once. The Vault stays out of reach.

Why people switch

What the day looks like with separate tools

Three moments a team that tracks work in one tool and everything else in others will recognise.

The Friday timesheet

Everyone remembers on Friday afternoon what they did on Tuesday. In Coding Cords a task goes on your calendar when you plan it or press Start, and the hours exist when the time has passed. Billing a client is one sheet of those hours.

A deal, then a project, then a bill

The client says yes in one tool, the work starts in another and the invoice is typed in a third. Here, a won deal starts the project with its client already set, the hours stay with the project and the invoice is drafted from them.

Another seat for the AI

The plan is one line on the bill and the AI add-on is another, counted for every member. With Coding Cords each person's AI is part of the plan, and an admin can see who used how much.

Fair to say

When ClickUp fits better

ClickUp is the better choice for some teams, and we'd rather say so.

  • You shape the tool: your own statuses, custom fields and views. Coding Cords has four fixed stages and no custom fields.
  • You build automations. ClickUp lists 10,000 actions a month on Business; Coding Cords has repeating tasks and tasks that wait for each other, and no automation builder.
  • You need native apps for iOS, Android, Mac and Windows★, which ClickUp links to from its pricing page, or to work offline★.
  • You need single sign-on★. ClickUp lists Google sign-on on Business and SAML on Enterprise.
  • You track time with a stopwatch, enter hours by hand or approve timesheets. In Coding Cords hours come from the calendar only.
  • You plan with dependency arrows on a Gantt chart. Our roadmap shows who does what and when, and shows waiting on the task, without arrows.
  • Tasks are all you buy. A ClickUp seat costs less than a Coding Cords plan.

Moving over

How the move works

You can move one team at a time and keep ClickUp running until you're ready.

  1. Run both for a while

Keep ClickUp open while you move one team or one project. Nothing forces a cut-over day.

  2. Bring your documents and files

Upload Word and Excel files, PDFs and whole folders. Word files open in the editor and save back as .docx, spreadsheets as .xlsx.

  3. Bring your open tasks

There is no task import yet. Type open work into the project with quick add, or give Cord a list and ask it to create the tasks. Copy a finished project to start the next one with its groups, tags and milestones.

  4. Move mail and contacts when you're ready

Mail comes in from any IMAP provider or an mbox file, and people and organisations from a CSV or vCard file. And whenever you want to leave, mail exports as mbox, documents as PDF or DOCX, and contacts, invoices and form responses as CSV.

Questions

Questions people ask

Where do the ClickUp prices come from?

From ClickUp's own pricing page, which we read on 14 October 2026. Every price on this page has that date and a link to the page. Business and Unlimited prices are per person a month, billed yearly.

Why does ClickUp Business have two prices here?

Its pricing page shows two plan sets side by side. One has Unlimited at $7 and Business at $12 billed yearly. The other has Core at $9 and Business at $17 billed yearly, with a regular price of $25. We show both rather than choose one.

Is the AI in Coding Cords really included?

Every person gets a monthly AI allowance with the plan. If someone needs more, AI tiers start at $8 a person a month. Unused AI doesn't carry over to the next month, and nothing is prepaid.

Does Coding Cords have a timer?

No. Time comes from your calendar: you plan a task onto it, or press Start and it books up to 90 minutes, stopping before your next meeting. There is no stopwatch, no manual entry form and no timesheet approval.

Can we bring our tasks over from ClickUp?

Not with an import yet. You can type them in with quick add, or give Cord a list and ask it to create them. Documents, spreadsheets, PDFs and folders upload as they are.

Which AI tools can work in Coding Cords?

Any AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity. Each person makes a personal key, and the tool gets the same access that person has. Documents and canvases can't be edited that way yet.

Can clients see their tasks?

Clients see what you choose for each project in their portal: progress, chosen folders, meetings, forms and messages. They don't see your task list.

Can the whole team try it first?

Yes. The trial is 14 days of the Company plan for up to 10 people, with no card. Phone numbers and Outreach are off during the trial.

Try it on your own work

Start with one project and your calendar, then bring the rest over when you're ready.
