Common questions about the Vault
Short answers about who can read the vault, lost passwords, and tokens for the command line.
Updated
Can Coding Cords read what's in my vault?
No. Items are encrypted on your device and opened only with keys held by you and the people you share with. Nobody can see your master password or reset it for you.
Can admins see everything?
No. Admins see which shared collections exist and who is in them, but not what's inside unless they are in the collection themselves.
What if we lose the recovery code?
Keep it somewhere safe and offline. It's shown only once, when the vault is set up, and it's what lets an admin give back access to someone who forgot their master password.
Can the command line or CI read secrets?
Yes. Admins make tokens under Access tokens in the Vault's menu. Each token reads only the environments of secret sets you choose, or, as a Full access token, everything the admin can open. The token is shown once; Revoke stops it.
Can Cord read my vault?
No. The Vault is kept out of Cord and AI tools.
