Add a phone number

Company numbers are added by admins in Settings › Phone. Nobody has a number until an admin gives it to them.

Buy a number

1. Go to Settings › Phone and select Add number.
2. Pick a country. To look for particular digits, type them in Area code.
3. Choose a number from the list.
4. Check the price: what it costs today, and Then every month. Calls are charged by the minute.
5. Give it a Name, such as Main line, Sales or Support.
6. Under Who can use it, choose the people who may call from it. Its calls ring them.
7. Select Buy for and the amount shown.

The number shows as Activating while the carrier sets it up. You get an email when it is ready, or why it couldn't be bought.

Numbers are paid from the phone credit. If there isn't enough, the sheet says so and you top up first; see /help/phone/phone-credit.

Some numbers need documents at the carrier. They are shown in the list but can't be bought here yet.

Change who uses a number

Each number in Settings › Phone has its name and its people beside it. Change either and it saves at once.

Release a number

Open the ... menu on the number and select Release number. It goes back to the carrier and can't be got back, and its call log is deleted too.
