Common questions about Finance

Short answers about invoice numbers, reminders, taxes, payslips and who sees what in Finance.

Updated

Why can't I change an invoice after sending it?

An invoice gets its number when it is issued and can't be changed after, so the client's copy and yours always match. To correct one, issue a credit note or void it, then send a new invoice. See /help/finance/record-an-invoice-payment.

Where do I set tax rates?

Admins set them in Finance › Settings, under Taxes. Usual tax is the rate new invoice lines start with; choose No tax if you don't charge one.

Can I add payment details to every invoice?

Yes. In Finance › Settings, Notes on new invoices is shown at the foot of each new invoice, such as how you'd like to be paid.

Where do I find my payslips?

In Finance › Payslips, newest first. Each one opens as a PDF. If you run payroll, they are in Finance › Payroll instead, beside the pay runs.

Why can't I see Invoices or Payroll?

Finance shows only the parts you have access to. Everyone can claim expenses; invoices, payroll and settings are for the people your admins have given them to.

What does the Overview show?

This month in four numbers (Owed to you, Overdue, Paid this month and Spent this month) and Needs you: overdue invoices, drafts not sent, claims to approve and pay runs still in draft.
