Send an invoice

Create an invoice for a client, check it, and email it with its PDF from your company's mailbox.

Updated

Invoices live in Finance › Invoices. Each one starts as a draft you can change freely, and gets its number only when it is issued.

Create the draft

  1. Open Finance › Invoices and choose New invoice.
  2. Pick the Client.
  3. If you have invoiced this client before, Same lines as last time is on: the new invoice starts from their last one, with its lines, notes and terms, dated today. Switch it off for a blank invoice.
  4. Choose Create invoice, then fill in the lines on the invoice itself.

An invoice started from a deal already has its client and the deal's line in it.

Check and send

  1. Choose Preview to see the PDF as the client will.
  2. Choose Send. Check To, Subject and Message.
  3. Choose Issue and send.

The invoice gets its number as it goes and can't be changed after. The PDF is attached, and the email carries a link to the invoice's own page, where the client sees what is owed, by when, and how to pay, with no account needed.

Other ways to issue

  • Issue without sending, in the More menu, gives a draft its number without emailing it.
  • Copy the client's link copies the invoice's page link to share yourself.
  • Send again emails an issued invoice once more.
  • Duplicate makes a new draft from any invoice.
  • Delete draft removes a draft that was never issued.

Reminders

When reminders are on in Finance › Settings, the client gets an email 3 days before an invoice is due, on the day, and a week after, while it is unpaid.
