Write a document
Write Word documents in Coding Cords with headers and footers, comment on them together, and download them as Word or PDF.
Updated
A document in Coding Cords is a Word document, written on real pages. New documents are A4 unless you set them otherwise.
Start a document
In Files or a project's Files tab, choose New, then Document. Or choose New in the sidebar, then Document, from anywhere. It opens at once, ready to write.
A .docx file you upload opens in the same editor and saves back as .docx, keeping fonts, sizes, colours, lists, tables, pictures, headers and footers. A file with features the editor can't edit, such as text boxes, charts or tracked changes, opens as Word draws it, with Edit anyway.
Headers and footers
A document's header and footer appear on every page, in the editor and in its downloads. The first page can have a different one.
Comment together
Select some words and press ⌘⌥M to start a comment on them, or open Comments for the whole document. Comments are threads: people reply to them and resolve them.
One writer at a time
The first person to change a document holds it while they write. Everyone else sees their changes arrive and a note saying who is editing. After 45 quiet seconds, or when they leave, someone else can write.
Share and download
- Share sends the document to people in your company, with a message, or copies its link.
- Download gives you Word (.docx) or PDF.
Turn other files into a document
A Markdown or text file stays what it is. To make a document of it, choose Convert to Word in its ⋯ menu. The document is made beside the file.
