Sketch on a canvas

Draw shapes, notes, lines, database tables and wireframes on a canvas, and tidy them into a clear layout.

Updated

A canvas is an open board for diagrams, flows, sketches and screen layouts. Make one in Files or a project's Files tab with New, then Canvas.

The tools

Pick a tool from the bar, or press its key:

  • Select (V) and Move around (H)
  • Shape (R): Rectangle, Rounded, Ellipse or Diamond
  • Text (T) and Sticky note (N)
  • Pencil (P) for drawing freehand, and Eraser (E)
  • Database table (B) for sketching a data model
  • Wireframe for screen parts: buttons, inputs, headings, cards, lists, a top bar, a tab bar and more
  • Picture to place an image

Lines between things

Drag from the edge of a shape to another shape to join them. Lines can be Straight lines, Curved lines or Right-angle lines.

Arrange

Right-click something for Bring to front, Bring forward, Send backward and Send to back, plus Duplicate (⌘D) and Delete. Tidy up lays out a diagram in neat steps for you.

Move around the board

Use Zoom in and Zoom out, Show everything to fit the whole board, and Back to 100% (Shift+0). Undo (⌘Z) and Redo (Shift+⌘Z) step through your changes.
