Use templates and letterheads

Turn any document, canvas or file into a template, make new files from it, and let it fill in dates, names and your client.

Updated

A template is a file you start from again and again: a letterhead, a proposal layout, a meeting note.

Make a template

Right-click a document, canvas or upload and choose Use as template. It now shows in the Templates tab. To undo it, choose Stop using as template.

Make a file from a template

  1. Choose New, then From template. On a folder, use New inside, then From template.
  2. Pick one of your templates or one of the built-in ones.

The copy goes in the folder that is open and keeps the template's page setup.

Words filled in for you

Write these in a template document (in its text, header or footer) and they are filled in when someone makes a copy:

  • {date}: today's date
  • {me}: the name of whoever made the copy
  • {company}: your company
  • {project}: the project the copy is in
  • {client}: that project's client

Any other words in braces, such as {price}, are highlighted in the copy so they are easy to spot and write over.

Letterheads

A letterhead is a template document with your header and footer. Make one, mark it Use as template, and every letter made from it starts on your paper.
