Slack, or chat inside one Coding Cords workspace
Slack is where a team talks, and most teams then pay for a project tool, a document suite and a phone tool beside it. Coding Cords has chat, calls and meetings in the same workspace as tasks, documents, mail, clients and invoices, with AI included, on one bill.

Choose Coding Cords if
You want chat in the same place as your tasks, files, mail and clients, so a message can become a task and a call can leave notes. You also want one bill and AI that can see the work.
Stay with Slack if
Your team lives in Slack apps and workflows, you share channels with other companies through Slack Connect, or you need native phone apps★ or offline work★.
Use both if
Keep Slack for the channels you share with other companies and move your own team's work to Coding Cords at your own pace.
We run Coding Cords on Coding Cords: our own chat, calls, projects, mail and invoices live in it.

What Slack does, and where it lives in Coding Cords
Slack's facts come from its own pricing and help pages, with the day we read them. Where a part of ours isn't built yet, it carries a star.

AI
Cord is built in, and your own AI tools can work here too
Slack's AI is part of its plans and grows with the plan you pick. Cord is part of every Coding Cords plan, for every person, across the whole workspace.
AI
In Coding Cords each person has their own monthly AI allowance: $5 on Starter, and $5 for the owner. Admins see the spending by day, feature and person, and can switch off each place AI works. Company plan allowances are on the pricing page.
Your own AI tools can work in it too
Any AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity, can work in your company through a personal key, with your permissions and an audit trail. Tasks, time, files, CRM, invoices and mail search are all reachable that way. Revoking the key stops it at once. The Vault is left out on purpose.
The whole cost
What it costs, in money and in time
Slack on its own costs less than Coding Cords, and the table says so. The comparison that matters is what a team pays once it adds the tools it usually needs beside Slack, plus the time to run each one.

Why people switch
What the day looks like with separate tools
Four moments a team that chats in one tool and works in others will recognise.
The huddle that ends with nothing
Two people settle the launch date in a quick call, and by evening nobody remembers who was to tell the client. In Coding Cords the call is a meeting in the same channel. It is transcribed as it happens, and the decision and the task to tell the client are waiting when it ends.
A message that is really a job
"Can you send Acme the revised quote by Friday?" is a request, and it scrolls away by lunch. In Coding Cords you make it a task from the message itself, in the right project, with a link back to what was said.
A chat assistant that knows nothing about the work
Asking an assistant about last quarter's clients means pasting the context in first. Cord already sees the projects, files, invoices and mail you can open, so "which Acme invoices are unpaid" gets an answer from the records.
Hours that nobody logged
On Friday afternoon half the team reconstructs its week for the invoice. In Coding Cords you plan a task on your calendar and the hours are recorded when the time passes, ready to turn into an invoice.
Fair to say
When Slack fits better
Slack is the better choice for some teams, and we'd rather say so here.
- Your team relies on apps and workflows built inside Slack, and would have to rebuild them.
- You share channels with other companies. Slack Connect does that on Pro and Business+; Coding Cords gives clients a portal and a private channel per project instead.
- You need apps from the App Store or Google Play★ or to work offline★. Today Coding Cords runs in the browser, on phones too.
- You record meetings★ or hold them in languages other than English★. Our transcripts are English only for now.
- You need single sign-on★ or a vendor with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification of its own. We hold neither yet.
- You only need chat. Slack Pro alone costs less than any Coding Cords plan.
Moving over
How the move works
You can move one part at a time and keep Slack running until you're ready.
Start with the conversations that matter
Coding Cords does not import Slack history. Open the channels you use every day here and let the rest stay in Slack, where your team can still read old threads while new ones start in Coding Cords.
Run both for a while
Slack and Coding Cords are billed separately, so keep Slack for as long as you need it and end it when the team has stopped opening it.
Bring your mail and contacts
Move each mailbox in from any IMAP provider or from an mbox file, and import people and organisations from a CSV or vCard file.
Leave whenever you want
Mail exports as mbox, documents as PDF or DOCX, and contacts, invoices and form responses as CSV. If a plan ends, the company turns read-only, so people can still read and export, and the data is kept for 30 days.

Questions
Questions people ask
Where do the Slack prices come from?
From slack.com/pricing, read on 14 October 2026. Pro is $7.25 a person a month billed yearly and Business+ is $15. Every price on this page links to the page it came from.
Is Coding Cords a cheaper Slack?
No. Slack on its own costs less than either of our plans. Coding Cords includes chat and calls, and also tasks, calendar, documents, mail, clients, invoices and AI on one bill. The price table shows both sides at 5 and 12 people.
Can I import my Slack history?
No. Coding Cords does not import from Slack. Keep Slack readable while your team starts new conversations here.
Is AI included, or extra?
Every person gets a monthly AI allowance with the plan, and more is $8 a person a month and up. Unused AI does not carry over to the next month. On Slack's pricing page, basic AI comes with Pro and ongoing Slackbot access with Business+.
Can I work with clients the way Slack Connect does?
Not with shared channels between two companies. Clients can sign in to a client portal and message you in a private channel for their project, and they can join meetings from a link with no account.
Does Coding Cords have mobile apps?
Not yet. Chat, calls and meetings work in a phone's browser, with a layout made for touch. Apps for the App Store and Google Play are on the roadmap.
Can the whole team try it first?
Yes. The trial is 14 days of the Company plan for up to 10 people, with no card. Phone numbers and Outreach are off during the trial.
Try it on your own work
Start with one channel and one project, then bring the rest over when you're ready.
