Phone and Calling Terms
Version 1, in effect from
On this page
The short version. Phone numbers, calls and texts come through our carrier partner, Telnyx. Coding Cords is not a replacement for a regular phone for emergency calls: keep another way to reach emergency services. Recording a call needs the other side to know, and in many places to agree. Usage is charged as shown before you buy.
1. Provider
Numbers and calling are supplied by Telnyx LLC and its carriers. Telnyx's terms and acceptable use policy apply to your use and pass through to you. Numbers are assigned to you for use; neither you nor we own them, and they stay subject to national numbering rules.
2. Emergency calls
Do not rely on Coding Cords to call emergency services (911, 112, 999 or others). We do not offer emergency calling: we do not register an address for emergency services, and a call may not connect, may reach the wrong emergency centre, or may not pass your location, because calls run over the internet and can be made from anywhere. Calls also fail if your internet, power or device fails. Tell everyone who uses one of your numbers about these limits. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for failing to reach emergency services.
3. Numbers and identity
Some countries require proof of identity or a local address before a number is assigned, and business texting in the US requires 10DLC brand and campaign registration. Give accurate information and keep it current. You may move a number to another provider while your account is in good standing. Numbers that are not paid for, or that stay unused for 90 days after you cancel, are released.
4. Calls, texts and recordings
- Follow telemarketing law: the TCPA and the Do Not Call registry in the US, PECR and the TPS in the UK, and local rules elsewhere. No autodialled, prerecorded or AI-voice calls, and no marketing texts, without the consent the law requires.
- Anyone who talks to an AI voice or AI agent by phone or text must be clearly told it is AI. Telnyx's acceptable use policy requires this, and so does the EU AI Act. No AI or prerecorded voice may pretend to be a live person.
- Many places, including several US states (for example California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington) and much of the EU, require everyone on a call to agree before it is recorded. If you record or transcribe calls, give a clear notice at the start and get consent where it is required.
5. Charges
Numbers have a monthly price, and calls and texts a price per minute or per message, shown in the app before you buy. Prices follow carrier costs and may change with 30 days' notice, or sooner if a carrier changes its price without notice to us.
